WICHITA FALLS — A Humble, Texas, couple hopes for good news after someone stole a van full of dogs this morning from outside a Wichita Falls motel.
The couple’s belongings were also in the van, but Richard Hooper said he and his wife are concerned only about the dogs.
If they’re left in the van with no air conditioning with the windows rolled up, “they could expire,” he said.
Hooper said he had loaded the five Swedish Vallhunds and two beagles into the van, and turned on the air conditioner to keep them cool. He went back into the motel — the La Quinta — to see his wife and make sure they had taken care of everything.
When he got back outside, the van was gone.
The couple had been taking the dogs to Arizona, where they were to be shown this weekend.
Wichita Falls police were called, and are investigating a theft of a white 2009 Toyota Sienna van, with Texas license tag NCV782 from the property at 1128 Central Freeway.
Police urged anyone with information about this case to call Crime Stoppers at 940-322-9888, or toll-free from outside the Wichita Falls area at 800-322-9888. Callers never have to give their names, and information that leads to an arrest could be eligible for a cash reward.
Police urged everyone to take their keys and keep vehicle doors locked.
